【#62 TEAM MASSA-R】 takes pole position with overwhelming time!
In the 3-hour final, 【#75 RT Moto Rock】 wins the top battle in the rain!!
The 24th "Mote Endurance". On August 21st (Sat), the official qualifying started at 8am. In the afternoon, a 3-hour endurance race was held. The official qualifying was a time attack in dry conditions, but the 3-hour final race was a race that was thrown around by rain.
The official qualifying determines the grid by combining the times of the first and second riders this year as well. In the session of the A group, which started at 8 o'clock, rider #62 TEAM MASSA-R's Satoru Mitani, who was the first to enter the course, quickly pulled away from the following riders and improved his time, marking 2 minutes and 12.287 seconds on his final attack. He marked an overwhelming time with a difference of more than 3 seconds from the second place rider, Jun Funahashi of #67 Riding Sports Fire A. In the session of the second rider of the A group, #62 TEAM MASSA-R's Gaku Fujii also marked the top time with 2 minutes and 13.128 seconds, securing the pole position without any complaints.
"Motoyama taught me how to run in the "Mote tai" qualifying session because I have the inherent speed. He ran faster than expected. Thanks to him, I was able to secure the pole position while taking a margin. This is also thanks to the team for putting the car together well," said Fujii. "I'm relieved that I was able to run a good time by following Fujii's advice. The car is also in good condition, so I want to do my best for the team in the final race," said Motoyama, who marked the team's best time.
"Until the qualifying, it's been too good. As a team, there are still many unknown parts as it's the first time we're running the Honda CBR250RR in the "Mote tai" endurance race, but the rider has been working hard. In the final race, we want to have fun and aim for victory with four riders in the "Mote tai" style," said Director Motegi.
[#62 TEAM MASSA-R] had a dominant time of 4 minutes and 25.415 seconds in the combined time. Second place [#88 Besla with Braking Girls YSS] had a time of 4 minutes and 30.492 seconds, giving a difference of a whopping 5.077 seconds. Third place was [#86 M Garage + i-factory] with a time of 4 minutes and 33.282 seconds, followed closely by fourth place [#41 Aggressive TSC & DF Noris] with a time of 4 minutes and 33.435 seconds, and fifth place [#33 First Star with D;REX] with a time of 4 minutes and 33.734 seconds. However, [#33 First Star with D;REX] was disqualified, so they will start from the 73rd grid position.
The 3-hour final race held on Saturday afternoon was made more accessible and enjoyable for participants, with the option to enter only the 3-hour final race for a more casual experience of "Mote tai". This time, 21 teams entered, including those who unfortunately did not qualify for the 7-hour final race.
The one who showed a good start was 【#75 RT Moto Rock】 starting from pole position. Following behind were 【#56 TEAM LANG with MRSK】 starting from 2nd grid, and 【#76 Team Galinco II】 starting from 3rd grid, as they went through the 2 corners. On the opening lap, 【#75 RT Moto Rock】 maintained the lead, but in 2nd place was 【#23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER】 who started from 22nd grid and quickly moved up to 2nd place, chasing the leader. In the early stages, 【#75 RT Moto Rock】 led the race, with a slight gap between them and 【#23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER】, 【#56 TEAM LANG with MRSK】, and 【#29 RS Dieta and TEAM LANG】 fighting for 2nd place. However, as the rain started to fall, red flags were waved from various posts. Afterwards, the rain became heavier and the track quickly turned into wet conditions, causing many teams to pit in and change to rain tires.
In such a situation, there were also many teams that continued to run on dry tires. Just as they were about to reach the halfway point, the #56 TEAM LANG with MRSK, who had been in the lead, finally made their first pit stop. The #56 TEAM LANG with MRSK returned to the track while maintaining their position and after an hour and a half, they were still in the lead with 32 laps. The #76 Team Galinco II, #23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER, and #75 RT Moto Rock were all following closely on the same lap.
After that, the rain came and went, and the race entered its final stages. #75 RT Moto Rock made their second pit stop, allowing #23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER to take the lead. From there, it was a close battle between #23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER and #75 RT Moto Rock, with both teams constantly overtaking each other in the rainy conditions. #23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER made several attempts to take the lead, but ultimately decided to secure their spot in the 7-hour final race and eased off the throttle. #75 RT Moto Rock, who were participating in their first "Mote tai" endurance race with members who had previously only raced in mini-bike endurance races, completed 63 laps and won the 3-hour final race.
"I was the only one who had previously obtained a TRMC-S license and raced in the 250cc race for the first time. It was tough in the rain, but I'm glad we were able to have fun and win together," said Takahiro Iwamoto, the rider for #75 RT Moto Rock.
2nd place is taken by [#23 PRT TOPS with YSS SNIPER], earning a ticket to the 7-hour final. In 3rd place is [#56 TEAM LANG with MRSK].
