Gaki Taisho Camp - Bonfire Edition

When it comes to autumn camping, it's all about the bonfire. While camping in the Hello Woods forest, you will gather firewood, split logs, and take on the challenge of building a bonfire. Surrounding the flames you create yourselves will chase away the cold and warm both your body and heart! Let's enjoy a two-day camp fully immersed in bonfires with Hello Woods' own Gaki Taisho, Ryuichiro Sakino.

Forest Creation Workshop ~ Logging ~

By cutting trees, light enters the forest, new shoots grow from stumps and the ground, and the next generation of the forest is born. Through logging safely using a chainsaw, please experience on site the diverse environments created by the circulation and care of the satoyama.

Relaxed Family Camp

A Family Camp to spend two relaxing days in the autumn countryside. This plan is perfect for a camping debut, with all the necessary equipment and meals provided. Head out to the forest to gather firewood, start a fire with the wood you collected, and enjoy a barbecue. Please also enjoy the basics of camping, such as setting up tents and having a campfire.

Searching for Rhinoceros Beetle Larvae and Making a Rearing Set

We will search for and observe the larvae of the rhinoceros beetle, a representative summer insect, together with a forest expert to find out "where," "what they look like," and "what they are doing." The larvae you find can be placed in a rearing set you make yourself and taken home, allowing you to observe their growth. The excitement of seeing the larvae you raised become magnificent adults will surely be a special experience!

Research on seasonal themes with free thinking. Instead of being taught everything, kid researchers will think for themselves, be creative, and conduct research on creating aquatic environments and the creatures that live there while experiencing real nature with unrestricted ideas.

We carefully carve trees such as zelkova and horse chestnut using tools like chisels and planes.

Tōru Matsuzaki Resides in Motegi Town, Chairman of the Crafts Department of the National Painting Association, Wood Lacquer Crafts Artist "My job is to carve wood and dress it in lacquered kimono." "I believe that my thoughts come first, and expressing them is my technique." Therefore, the technology should be kept as simple as possible, while valuing the beauty of the design. The lacquer is applied layer by layer to the form, and it is stopped at a point where it looks beautiful to the eye. By seeking the beauty of the form, dressing it in a strong kimono, and using it, it becomes even more beautiful and glossy. I hope to create works that combine strength and dignity.
