(Main Contents) ・Measurement of melatonin, an indicator of sleep rhythm ・Recording of physical activity using an activity meter ・Illuminance measurement to examine exposure to natural light ・Body measurements ・Comparison of lifestyle records such as sleep time and bowel movements during camp and before and after camp *These surveys are conducted in collaboration with experts from Nippon Sport Science University and the National Institute for Environmental Studies. |
|---|---|
| Knife Handling Course |
This program aims to teach children the basics of safely handling tools such as knives in nature. During camp life, there are many opportunities to use knives, not only for cooking but also for whittling wood and crafting. Rather than "not allowing use because it is dangerous," this is one of the experience programs where children can learn that "when used correctly, it is a safe and useful tool." (Main Contents) ・Learn about the types and roles of knives ・Correct way to hold and insert the blade ・Understand the blade direction and how to apply force ・Get accustomed to handling the tools through practice When handling knives, group leaders and staff supervise the process, allowing children to participate with peace of mind. This not only broadens their crafting skills but also fosters concentration, carefulness, and a sense of responsibility for their own actions. |
| Food Tasting Classroom | This is an experience program aimed at nurturing children's ability to perceive the true flavors of food in nature. Through hands-on experiences, children carefully learn about "taste" and the "importance of eating," which are often difficult to consciously recognize in everyday life. (Main Contents) ・Savor the five basic tastes and develop the sense of taste ・Eat raw, eat dried, eat cooked. Practically learn how various cooking methods bring out the flavors of ingredients ・Challenge yourself to fillet a horse mackerel into three pieces using your own knife Also gain experience cooking as a team, fostering independence in food and the ability to cooperate. Children deepen their sense that "eating is living," while developing their taste and connection with nature. |
| Bike School | This is one of the most popular programs in the camp where children can safely experience the joy of handling a bike. To ensure that even children touching a bike for the first time can participate with confidence, a one-on-one support system tailored to each individual is in place, and professional Riders and specialized instructors provide careful guidance from the basics. (Main Contents) ・Wearing helmets and protectors, learn safe posture and operation methods ・Practice basic operations on flat ground ・Challenge off-road riding utilizing the vast grounds and natural environment within Mobility Resort Motegi By adjusting speed and changing body orientation while observing the course conditions, children develop concentration and situational judgment skills through self-directed riding. Moreover, they not only acquire the attitude of "it's okay to fail" and "to keep trying despite failure," but also deepen their cooperative spirit and empathy by encouraging each other as they take on challenges together. |
| Craft Workshop | This is a program where children can experience the joy of "creating with their own hands" using materials found in nature. While making the most of familiar natural materials, it values the process of shaping their own ideas of "what would be nice to have." (Key Points) ・Tools are carefully taught with safety in mind, so even beginners can participate with confidence. ・Participants consult with their peers to make the most of the materials available in the field and create a one-of-a-kind work. By exchanging opinions and helping each other during the work process, children develop a cooperative attitude and communication skills, and learn to respect free ideas. The finished product can be taken home and will become one of the memorable experiences of the camp. |
| Survival Camp Together |
This is a survival program where children cooperatively learn the skills to "survive in nature" through hands-on experience with their team members. In a forest without electricity, gas, or running water, they build their lives relying solely on their own abilities, fostering independence and resilience. It is not just an outdoor experience but aims to practically teach the skills and knowledge necessary in a natural environment. (Key Points) ・Acquire basic knowledge for safe activities in nature, such as how to tie ropes and handle fire. These skills are useful not only for survival but also for everyday disaster preparedness awareness. ・Experience starting a fire using a primitive method called the “hand drill” without using matches or lighters. The sense of accomplishment at the moment the fire ignites is great, making it an unforgettable experience for the children. ・Experience cooking while managing the fire, creating meals in nature. There are many learning points that come from working as a team, such as adjusting the heat and dividing roles. The experience of consulting with teammates and dividing roles to build daily life is a valuable time for developing cooperation skills and problem-solving abilities. Challenging and accomplishing tasks in nature becomes a source of confidence for the children and will be one of the most memorable experiences of the camp. |
| Culmination Journey | This program aims for the children to create their own journey based on the experiences they have accumulated during the camp. From planning the trip to the actual actions, the children primarily discuss, decide, and proceed on their own, designed to foster stronger independence and a sense of responsibility. Meanwhile, group leaders and staff always watch closely nearby, providing an environment where the children can challenge themselves with peace of mind. It is truly a culminating time of growth where the learning from camp is realized in the form of a “journey.” (Key Points) ・Children discuss among themselves how to read maps, confirm routes, prepare necessary luggage, and divide roles, fostering their ability to think and decide on their own. ・They proceed while checking the map and make judgments according to changes in weather and terrain. By calling out to each other as they move forward, a cooperative attitude and sense of responsibility naturally develop. ・When faced with a long journey or unexpected difficulties, children work together with their peers to overcome them, giving them a great sense of accomplishment and fostering perseverance and problem-solving skills. |

Tōru Matsuzaki Resides in Motegi Town, Chairman of the Crafts Department of the National Painting Association, Wood Lacquer Crafts Artist "My job is to carve wood and dress it in lacquered kimono." "I believe that my thoughts come first, and expressing them is my technique." Therefore, I keep the technique as simple as possible, cherish the beauty of the form, apply layers of lacquer to that shape, and stop when it looks beautiful to my own eyes. I seek the beauty of the form, dress it in a strong kimono, and through use by people, it becomes even more beautiful and lustrous. I want my works to possess dignity alongside strength. |
