2014 "Mote tai"
August 3 (Sun) Race Report

【#12 CLUB1.2 Kusitani Kawaguchi Store】, which always led the race from pole position, won the victory in 170 laps!

2014 "Mote tai" August 3 (Sun) Race Report The 17th "Mote Endurance" final race. The sky above Twin Ring Motegi on August 3rd (Sun) was clear from the morning and the temperature rose rapidly. The highest temperature was 36.7 degrees, and the road surface temperature reached 60 degrees, making it a scorching hot day.

After the morning briefing, pre-start checks, and a 10-minute free run, the 85 cars that advanced to the 7-hour endurance race lined up on the dummy grid. Then, as scheduled at 10 am, the riders from the first group of 43 cars started in a Le Mans-style run to their machines. As expected, the #12 CLUB1.2 Kusitani Kawaguchi store, which had dominated the qualifying times, took the lead from the opening lap and extended its lead, marking the fastest lap of the race at 2 minutes and 16.478 seconds on the 13th lap. After one hour, the top positions were held by the #12 CLUB1.2 Kusitani Kawaguchi store, followed by the #42 YSS Racing Mercury, #10 Team Penske, #63 HAPPY MONDAY, #1 YSS Racing Bulldockertagos A, #2 YSS Racing Bulldockertagos B, and #52 WIN RF, all of which were on the same lap as the top Kawasaki teams in the WT class.

The #12 CLUB1.2 Kusitani Kawaguchi store in the BRAVE class has a 4-minute pit stay time that includes refueling, creating a 1-minute gap compared to its rivals. However, due to the timing of pit stops, it has been consistently losing positions despite leading the race.

And as the race passed the halfway point and 4 hours had passed, [#12 CLUB1.2 Kushtani Kawaguchi Store] pitted. In their place, [#10 Team Penske] took the lead, but shortly after, Matsuda crashed unexpectedly at turn 2. After a quick recovery and return to the track, they maintained their lead and entered the 100th lap. Later, [#10 Team Penske] also pitted for their 4th routine stop, allowing [#12 CLUB1.2 Kushtani Kawaguchi Store] to regain the lead. From there, the gap between the two teams continued to widen. While [#10 Team Penske] briefly took the lead again, [#12 CLUB1.2 Kushtani Kawaguchi Store] regained the lead during their pit stop and maintained a comfortable lead of about 2 laps, solidifying their position as the leader.

The competition between classes was fierce. In the midst of it, 【#999 Racing Team Honeybee】 who was running in third place in their class, had a devastating fall at a 90 degree corner. They were unable to restart and had to be towed back to the pit, causing them to drop significantly in the rankings.

And with 1 hour remaining, [#12 CLUB1.2 Kusitani Kawaguchi Store] was in the lead with 146 laps. [#10 Team PENSKE] was in second place with 145 laps, followed by [#17 Assort Racing], [#2 YSS Racing Bulldocka Tagos B], and [#66 Riding Sports Fire 66] with 144 laps. The top two teams entered the final routine pit stop and only had to aim for the checkered flag. In the back, a fierce battle for third place ensued and at 6 hours and 13 minutes, [#2 YSS Racing Bulldocka Tagos B] overtook [#17 Assort Racing] to move up to third place. Meanwhile, [#98 NMC & Crime], who was in 6th place, stopped at the entrance of the pit road. They pushed their car back to the pit, but lost a lot of time and dropped down in position.

After that, there were no changes in the top position and [#12 CLUB1.2 KUSHITANI Kawaguchi store] recorded 170 laps and received the checkered flag in first place.
"We followed the plan of Chief of Staff Sato almost as planned. We were actually aiming for 172 laps, but the rider got tired (laughs). We had plenty of fuel, but we couldn't feel relieved because we were worried about the electrical system. As a result, we ended up with 170 laps, but I think we had a good race with a lot of overtaking in the middle. I hope this class will continue next year and I want to celebrate the victory," said Katsuya Nagano, the rider.

Second place overall was taken by the #10 Team Penske with 168 laps, followed by the #2 YSS Racing Bulldock Tagos B with 167 laps in the WT class. In third place overall was the #17 Assort Racing, who also took first place in the NST-CBR class. The #66 Riding Sports Fire 66, who finished fifth overall, also took the top spot in the WS class.

This year, the overall level has improved, and the number of laps for the winning team has increased by 2 laps to 170 laps compared to last year. The fact that the safety car did not enter at all was also a factor in extending the number of laps, and it is evidence that manners have improved. From beginners to former MotoGP™ riders, many riders enjoyed "Mote tai" seriously this year.
