August 26 (Sun) Race Report

The veteran and young players' strong collaboration led to the recapture of the "Mote Tai" championship by #1 Bulldocka Tagos & Haruman after 2 years!

2012 "Mote tai" August 26 (Sun) Race Report The final of the Motegi 4-hour Endurance Race, known as "Mote tai", will be held on Sunday, August 26th. On the day, the strong sunlight will mercilessly shine from the morning, creating a harsh race with weather that is too favorable for a midsummer endurance race.

At 10:00 AM on schedule, 77 machines that passed the qualifying round lined up on the grid, and riders ran towards the start signal in the Le Mans style. The #92 GMD Moto Stream Mercury, which qualified in 3rd place, made a good start, but the pole position #812 Takatsuki Racing did not give up and took the hole shot, passing the control line in first place. They continued to lap at a high pace, gradually widening the gap with the following positions.

Teams began to enter the pit after 40 minutes from the start, and even the top running team [#812 Takatsuki Racing] made an early pit stop. As the race approached the one-hour mark, more teams started to enter the pit, revealing the differences in race strategies between teams. Taking the lead was [#1 Bulldocka Tagos & Haruman], followed by [#65 Power Factory Roadway] and [#4 Team Pentsuke], forming a top group.

There was a big movement in the race about 2 and a half hours after the start. Despite dropping positions due to machine trouble, [#812 Takatsuki Racing] showed a comeback from the back while hitting the best time of 2 minutes and 15.252 seconds on this day and fell at the second underbridge. The safety car enters because the machine remains on the course. In addition, many teams choose to pit in at this timing because it takes time to recover the course. At this point, [#4 Team Pentsuke], who was leading the race, also enters the pit and [#1 Bulldocka Tagos & Haruman] takes the lead at the restart. However, [#4 Team Pentsuke] returns to the course in 4th place and regains the lead on the first lap after the restart.

At 1:30 PM, which is the halfway point of the race, the high temperature and concentration levels caused contact and falls at the hairpin turn. On this day, the safety car entered for the second time, causing many teams to pit. With two safety car periods, it became difficult to predict each team's fuel situation. After 4 hours, the top team was #1 Bulldockertagoss & Haruman, followed by #12 CLUB1.2FK Kushitani Kawaguchi Store and #4 Team Penske in the WT class, all on the same lap and fiercely competing for the lead. The first team to drop out was #4 Team Penske. After about 5 and a half hours into the race, they entered the pit. It was thought that the rider and tires would be changed, but it turned out to be a major mechanical issue that caused them to drop significantly in the rankings.

With 1 hour and 30 minutes remaining, the top position is held by #12 CLUB1.2FK Kushitani Kawaguchi store with 134 laps, followed by #1 Bulldogger Tagos & Haruman with a gap of about 1 minute. While they have a 2 lap lead over the rest of the field, in an endurance race where anything can happen, it is not a safe position. At this point, #12 CLUB1.2FK Kushitani Kawaguchi store had 2 pit stops remaining, but #1 Bulldogger Tagos & Haruman, who had already refueled during a safety car period, were able to complete the race with just 1 pit stop and take the checkered flag after 158 laps, beating their opponents with the best lap time and successfully reclaiming the "Mote tai" title after 2 years.

The overall winner, [#1 Bulldockertagos & Haruman], is a team led by veteran Motoaki Mogi, who turned 45 this year, but this year they have recruited local junior minibike racer Kanayama. It was a surprise that Kanayama, who was born in 1998 when "Mote tai" was born, won the 15th anniversary event.
