Race Report

【#1 NR Project & Yokoyama】achieved a complete victory!

2010 "Mote Tai Masters" August 29th (Sun) Race Report Following the "Open Mote Endurance" held one week ago, the 2010 "Mote Endurance Masters" was held.
Similar to the "Open Mote Endurance", the weather was hot and harsh, but all 25 teams that participated in the final race enjoyed the "Mote Endurance Masters" with their own thoughts in mind, creating fun summer memories.

At 10:00 AM, the final race started with a Le Mans-style start, symbolizing the endurance race. Taking the holeshot with perfect timing and leading the opening lap was #1 NR Project & Yokoyama's Nakano Kinshiro, who had played out the best qualifying story and secured pole position. Following behind were #17 WITHME RACING's Maruyama Hiroshi and #22 Hamamatsu Ebisu Motors & PANOLIN's Kato Hideyuki. These three teams maintained a pace of 2 minutes and 4 seconds from the beginning, engaging in a close battle as if it were a sprint race. Then, on the 19th lap, #17 WITHME RACING pitted for refueling and rider change, making the first pit stop among the top three teams. Next, on the 22nd lap, #22 Hamamatsu Ebisu Motors & PANOLIN pitted, followed by #1 NR Project & Yokoyama on the 24th lap, with each team smoothly progressing through the race.

Around 2 hours after the start, the top teams gradually started to move in terms of laps. The two teams competing for the top spot, [#1 NR Project & Yokoyama] in the SS class and [#24 2Rinkan R.T.] in the B1 class, were expected to have their pit stop frequency as the deciding factor. Therefore, [#1 NR Project & Yokoyama], which would inevitably have more pit stops due to fuel consumption, considered the time loss during pit stops and had all riders mark faster lap times than other teams in order to escape.
On the other hand, [#24 2Rinkan R.T.] aimed to continue running with stable times through 6 pit stops and reach the top. As a result, both teams were running at the same lap count of 83 laps at the 3-hour mark.

At the end of 4 hours, [#1 NR Project & Yokoyama] successfully completed 110 laps and took a one lap lead over the rest of the field. [#24 2Rinkan R.T.] followed closely behind, with [#22 Hamamatsu Ebisu Motors & PANOLIN] in third place with 108 laps, followed by [#70 Lyrica AMENA] and [#17 WITHME RACING].

Various machines, as expected of the Masters, create their own dramas as time passes and less than an hour remains. Each team challenges their final run. Around the 40-minute mark, the second place team, #24 2Rinkan R.T., completes their sixth and final pit stop as planned, with a refueling and rider change. Following suit, the top team, #1 NR Project & Yokoyama, makes their eighth pit stop. They successfully complete a refueling and rider change, sending out their final rider. Despite not changing tires, they continue to run stable lap times in the 2 minutes 3-4 seconds range.
In addition, on the 179th lap, they catch up to #24 2Rinkan R.T. on the V-shaped exit of the S-curve, securing a 2-lap lead and sealing the victory. As a result, they complete a record-breaking 191 laps in the "Mote Endurance" race, and #1 NR Project & Yokoyama achieves their long-awaited first victory.
"In 2010, NR Project did not plan to participate. We waited until the last minute to enter, and thanks to the cooperation of Moto Garage Yokoyama and vehicle owner Arai, we were able to achieve this result. We didn't have any specific strategy for the final race, we were just focused on setting a course record in the qualifying round. But because everyone was able to run at a stable pace, I think this result would have been the same no matter who ran in what order. In 2011, the "Mote Endurance Masters" will be the last, so I want to set a course record and leave a permanent record in "Mote Endurance". Also, I would like to team up with a magazine or media outlet. If anyone is interested, please contact us!" commented the team.

[#24 2Rinkan R.T.] finished in 2nd place with 189 laps. "Even though I have the privilege of racing under the banner of 2Rinkan, I didn't have enough practice as a rider. In 2011, I want to challenge "Mote Tai" with more training than ever before," he showed his determination.

In third place, #22 Hamamatsu Ebisu Motors & PANOLIN finished with 188 laps, and "It's a shame that rider Sano was injured on his bicycle before the race and couldn't participate. We've been participating in the "Mote tai" for 13 years, so we want to continue participating in 2011 and maintain our perfect attendance record. Of course, in the final year of 2011, we want Sano to race properly!" commented the team.

In addition, the best lap during the race was marked by #17 WITHME RACING's Akira Kamitaka with a time of 2'01.451 on the 176th lap.

And so, the 2010 "Mote tai" came to an end. In 2011, the Masters will become the grand finale race, putting an end to one chapter of history, but the spirit of Mote tai will be passed on to the "Open Mote tai".
While various dramas will continue to unfold, the strong passion towards the final "Mote tai Masters" is already being conveyed by many participants. Please look forward to the satisfying experience of both racing and watching "Mote tai".
