The "Mote tai" that concludes the 2010 Motegi 4 Great Endurance Series will kick off. In 2009, the qualifying race was held about a month before the final race, but in 2010, the qualifying race will be held on August 21 (Sat) and the "Open Mote tai" will be held the next day, followed by the "Mote tai Masters" 7-hour endurance race on August 29 (Sun).
Despite the record-breaking heat wave that hit the Japanese archipelago in 2010, the sports driving on August 20th (Fri) was surprisingly cool. Even on August 21st (Sat), when the official qualifying was held, the morning was cloudy and the temperature was low. Although it was low, it was still considered hot for the summer of 2010. When the sun peeked out from behind the clouds, the temperature quickly rose and the time attack took place in the scorching heat, typical of a summer endurance event.
First, we will have the qualifying round for the "Open Mote Tai" race, where the first and second riders will each complete their session and the grid will be determined by their combined time. Taking pole position is #21 SP3 Anfini Madoka Design, with first rider Masaki Kanai marking a time of 2 minutes 22.318 seconds, showcasing the skills of a former All Japan rider.
"I also took pole position in 2009, but in the final race I was left behind by Mr. Kurokawa (Takehiko) and Mr. Yamashita (Yu), which was frustrating. So, since January 2010, I have been training. Both myself and the machine are in good condition, so I want to enjoy the race with everyone. It would be great if I could compete for the top spot with #28," says Kanai.
In second place, #1 Bulldocka Tagos & Haruman were only 0.041 seconds behind, followed closely by AS1 class leader #86 Takatsuki Garage Racing Team, who were only 0.070 seconds behind the top spot. In fourth place was the only entry in the WS class, #28 FineRacing & Yoshimi! It's a meeting.
94 cars participated in the official qualifying for the 2010 "Open Mote Tai" race. 72 cars advanced to the 7-hour endurance final. 22 cars participated in the Open 3-hour endurance final after the end of qualifying.
The 3-hour endurance race started at 14:20. First, the pole position [#51 Bulldog Tagos & Midori no Kaze] took the lead, but Hasegawa Katsunori from [#41 Motoyoshi Twins 4], who showed a good start from the 14th grid, updated the fastest lap and ran in the lead. After changing tires and other pit work, they fell back in time. [#48 Bulldog Tagos Jockeys], who steadily caught up, took the lead at the 2-hour mark and kept the top spot. As the fuel consumption was tight, the symptoms of running out of gas appeared on the final lap downhill straight, but they managed to cross the checkered flag and win.
"We knew that the fuel consumption was tight, but everyone agreed that "we don't need anything but first place!" After receiving the checkered flag at the top, Kitatsume Wataru stopped at the second corner.
In the final stages of the race, 【#5 GG4 & Kushtani Utsunomiya】made a comeback and finished in 2nd place, while 【#16 nekomata-RT】finished in 3rd place.
"Mote Tai Masters" official qualifying was marked by [#1 NR Project & Yokoyama] as the first rider and second rider with top times. They unquestionably secured the pole position.
"As planned, we got the pole position. I wanted to get into the 57 second range if possible. I have gotten 2nd and 3rd place before, but I haven't won yet, so I want to aim for my first victory in the final race and have fun," said Kinshiro Nakano, the first rider.
"I just opened the throttle, but I was able to update my personal best by 2 seconds. I usually participate in races at my own shop, but this time everyone is maintaining the machine together, so it's really helpful. I was able to get some sleep and conserve my energy, so I'm looking forward to the race," said second rider Koichi Yokoyama.
In second place is the #24 2Rinkan R.T. from the B1 class, followed by #17 WITHME RACING in third place. The 7-hour endurance race for "Mote Tai Masters" will be held on August 29 (Sun).
