Celebrating its 11th year, "Mote tai" takes a new step forward. On Saturday, August 30th, the "Mote tai Masters" event, which has been held since 1998, will continue. The rain that had been falling until morning stopped, and the track dried up during free practice, with the race starting in dry conditions.
The 【#5 Nakano Racing Project NR】 that started from pole position took the hole shot and led the race. 【#19 Vesla Racing】 from the 2nd grid, 【#135 Tras & PIAA】, 【#83 Team JP Racing JRC】, 【#2 2Rinkan R.T.】, 【#22 Hamamatsu Ebisu M, FCB & RC30】, 【#7 Auto Boy RC + Windy】 followed and cleared corners 1 and 2. The 【#5 Nakano Racing Project NR】 demonstrated their ability to secure pole position for the second consecutive year and quickly pulled away from the rest of the pack. However, the 【#19 Vesla Racing】 who wanted to chase after them had to slow down and make a pit stop due to a damaged hub bearing. Additionally, the 【#51 Team Iwaki】 who brought their original machine had to stop at the entrance of the S-curve after 50 minutes. This caused them to drop significantly in the rankings. Furthermore, bad luck also struck the 【#5 Nakano Racing Project NR】 who was leading the race. They experienced fuel shortage symptoms in the third sector and had to slow down. They were able to make it back to the pit, but continued to struggle with fuel consumption afterwards.
After one hour had passed, many teams entered their first pit stop. However, #135 Tras & PIAA finally entered the pit after one hour and ten minutes. During this pit stop, #2 2Rinkan R.T. took the lead, but after an hour and a half from the start, they crashed in the V corner due to a highside and the brake adjuster hitting the cowl, causing the front to lock and resulting in a devastating fall. They were unable to restart immediately and also dropped significantly in position. In the early stages of the race, accidents continued to occur for top teams, but #135 Tras & PIAA once again took the lead. Later on, #37 Team Freeway + RS Ito overtook #135 Tras & PIAA for the lead, but with their 24-liter tank and good fuel efficiency, #135 Tras & PIAA showed consistent riding and left the rest of the field behind.
At the 15-minute mark, [#37 Team Freeway+RS Ito] overtakes [#67 Riding Sports & Fire] and moves up to 4th place. They continue to close in on 3rd place [#3 Kito Kito RT☆Kibinago]. Then, with less than 5 minutes remaining, [#37 Team Freeway+RS Ito] catches up to [#3 Kito Kito RT☆Kibinago] and enters the podium zone.
The #135 Tras & PIAA, which ran at the top, initially had worse fuel efficiency than planned and considered increasing pit work, but in the end, it ran for 7 hours according to the strategy. It ran 185 laps and finished at the top. In its 10th challenge, it achieved its first victory in "Mote tai". The number of pit work was only 4 times. It was a dominant victory with a 3-lap lead over second place. "It wasn't that easy. At the end, I couldn't decide whether to refuel or just keep going until the last minute. I'm glad I was able to finish," said Taka Toda, the winner. "I'm happy! It's an honor to achieve the first victory for a completely normal car and a foreign car in "Mote tai"," said Yoshinari Matsushita. "I think we were able to win because everything came together in various ways," said Eiji Saito. "It was our 10th year participating with a BMW. It was a race with no small parts, but we were able to run well according to the regulations. It's the result of having fun for 10 years. I hope "Mote tai" will continue for 20 or 30 more years. I want to continue participating as long as possible," commented team manager Noboru Muto, exploding with joy.
The #5 Nakano Racing Project NR, which ran out of gas four times, finished in 2nd place for the second consecutive year. In 3rd place was #37 Team Freeway + RS Ito, which moved up in position just before the finish line.
