The 19th edition of JOY TAI, which was first held in 2001, was held in 2019, the first year of the Reiwa era. Although there was relatively little rain since the start of the rainy season, the official qualifying session on June 15 (Sat) was held in the rain, with wet conditions during the special sports driving session in the morning. Each team checked their wet settings and the condition of the course, preparing for the qualifying session in the afternoon.
And as scheduled, the time attack for A Driver A Group (Class-1, 2, 3, FIT 1.5) will begin at 1:10 PM. In second place, #60 G/M'SSR☆WM☆FIT followed with 2 minutes 31.654 seconds, with the top spots being dominated by FIT 1.5 class. Although a few machines went off course early on, they all managed to restart.
After that, the rain continued to fall, and in the session for A Driver B Group (Class-4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9), #246 Yuki and Obocchama's DC5, Nakajima Yuya, took the top spot with a time of 2 minutes and 26.137 seconds. With 9 minutes remaining, [#82 Pumanz R ☆ Raya ☆ DC5]'s Kazunori Nishimura sets a time of 2 minutes 25.451 seconds to take the top spot, and in the final attack, he shortens it to 2 minutes 23.938 seconds to finish the qualifying, but receives a penalty and has his best lap time deleted. Still, his second time is 2 minutes 24.118 seconds, and he is able to stay on top in this session.
At the end of the session, #75 ACELINES137EG's driver, Daisuke Yamada, was in 5th place with a time of 2:27.715. However, he was able to improve his time to 2:26.883 and then 2:25.526, moving up to 2nd place. On the final lap, he recorded a time of 2:25.424, securing the 2nd place spot in the B Driver B group session. In the combined times, #75 ACELINES137EG took the top spot with a time of 4:53.084, earning the pole position in the wet qualifying conditions.
"When I looked at the leaderboard towards the end of the session, I was in 5th or 6th place. Since Fujihara was in 3rd place, I knew I couldn't just go home like that, so I attacked. Is it okay for a 20-year-old car to be in first place? (B driver Yamada)" "I thought it would be good to be in the top 10 in qualifying, so it's a surprise to be in pole position (laughs). In the final, we just have to execute our strategy without being swayed by the speed of those around us (A driver Masatoshi Fujihara)."
[#2 Wako's ED Nils K Dental] finished in second place with a time of 4 minutes 56 seconds 560, followed closely by [#6 Versus FIT] in third place with a time of 4 minutes 56 seconds 808, [#57 Toyo Intec Racing DC5] in fourth place with a time of 4 minutes 56 seconds 841, and [#82 Pumanz R☆Lia☆DC5] in fifth place with a time of 4 minutes 56 seconds 995.
