
Joy Tai, which is celebrating its 11th year. The previous 26 classes have been reorganized into 10 classes, while maintaining the same concept, the regulations have become simpler.
The official qualifying was held on July 9th (Sat), which coincided with the announcement of the end of the rainy season by the Japan Meteorological Agency. The temperature rose to 35 degrees and the road surface temperature reached close to 60 degrees, making it a tough hot day. This year, the official qualifying was held at 13:00, making it a time attack in the peak of the heat.
First, the session for A drivers in Class 1-4, 8, and 9 was held, and #3 Asano Automobile Prelude's driver, Takeo Asano, recorded the top time of 2 minutes 16.931 seconds as the only entry in Class 9.
Next, in the session for Class 5-7, #2 Shiden Team's Lotus 2-11 driver, Kanji Kato, showed impressive speed difference from sports driving and marked 2 minutes 13.903 seconds, securing the pole position for the second consecutive year.
"I chose to reduce the time spent stopped in the pit by adding weight, but it makes fuel efficiency more difficult. My time was also slower than last year. However, since it's my second year, I understand the car and the flow of the race, so I want to enjoy it. It would be great to get on the podium in the final race, even though pole position is nice," said player Kato.
Class 7 top [#96 Dijon Racing REV DC5] recorded 2 minutes 16.930 seconds, Class 9 top [#3 Asano Automobile Prelude] recorded 2 minutes 16.931 seconds, followed by Class 7 [#87 Sunspot Endless Civic] with 2 minutes 17.580 seconds.
The Honda CR-Z team in Class1, where SUPER GT drivers are participating in large numbers, was led by #16 Enjoy Honda MUGEN CR-Z driver, Toshihiro Kaneishi, who set the fastest time.
"I drove the CR-Z for the first time on Friday, but since I also drive the Civic, there was no discomfort. It's a very easy car to drive. I was able to put together a good qualifying, but I think the race will be a fuel economy battle, so I will focus on fuel economy driving and enjoy it," said Kaneishi.
The final race of the 2011 Motegi Enjoy Endurance Race "JOY TAI" will start at 10:30 on July 10th (Sun)!
