Powered by 40 AAA rechargeable batteries, the competition takes place.
Panasonic, who has been sponsoring since the first event, provides the AAA rechargeable batteries.

Held at Suzuka Circuit and Mobility Resort Motegi

Mobility Resort MOTEGI will host the "Ene-1 MOTEGI GP", while Suzuka Circuit will host the "Ene-1 SUZUKA Challenge" and "Ene-1" at two locations.
The characteristics of the courses where the competitions will be held are significantly different at these two circuits.
The "Ene-1 SUZUKA Challenge" at Suzuka Circuit will be held on the full course (5.807km per lap) of the historic Suzuka Circuit, which was founded in 1962. With elevation changes and a mix of low-speed and high-speed corners, the course is challenging to master and requires drivers with experience. The track also puts a higher load on vehicles compared to Mobility Resort MOTEGI.

SUZUKA CIRCUIT and Mobility Resort MOTEGI

The stage (race course) of Mobility Resort Motegi is a special course that runs in reverse on the "Road Course (Full Course)".

The stage (race course) of Mobility Resort Motegi is the "road course" where many races including world championships are held.
At the "Ene-1 MOTEGI GP", until 2020 it was held on the "oval course", from 2021 it will be held on the "road course (west course)", but in 2024 it will be a special course where the "road course (full course)" will be run in reverse.

'Road Course' is a 4.8km long course layout that is known for its repeated deceleration, turning, and acceleration, also known as "stop and go" in its original direction. In 2024, the event will be held in reverse, changing the steep downhill straight into an uphill climb, requiring more power from the vehicles.
After conquering the downhill straight, the course becomes a downhill slope from the "hairpin curve" to "130R". In order to navigate each corner at high speeds, it is crucial to have good braking performance and follow the ideal racing line.
With no past data available for each team, the 2024 Ene-1 has become an even more challenging course layout for drivers and mechanics. It continues to evolve as a competition that combines both the sports aspect and the challenge of balancing "energy management" and "speed".

The competing vehicles are handmade.

Vehicles participating in "Ene-1" cannot be modified from commercially available vehicles, and there are no vehicles specifically sold for the competition.
Therefore, all vehicles used in the competition are handmade from the beginning.
Participants must come up with ideas and designs and create vehicles that comply with the competition rules.
Some vehicles that have already participated in gasoline mileage competitions such as the Eco Mileage Challenge have been modified to meet the regulations and participate.
This competition values the effort and creativity put into creating a vehicle, and the results are a reflection of that effort.

Competition Method

The competition consists of two parts: "Time Attack (Qualifying)" and "Final Race".

Time Attack (Qualifying)
Determines the right to participate in the "Final Race" and the starting grid order. Vehicles that cannot finish in this time attack cannot participate in the endurance race. Therefore, it is important to finish first in the time attack.

Overall Points
In order to compete for the total points in both the "Time Attack (Qualifying)" and "Final Race", even if the ranking in the "Time Attack (Qualifying)" is high, the overall result will not be high if the ranking in the "Final Race" is low.
During the competition between the "Time Attack (Qualifying)" and "Final Race", it is not possible to charge the battery, which is the power source, so it is necessary to consider the distribution of battery capacity and manage energy in the "Final Race" by considering the pace distribution.
