The Japanese archipelago was hit by the hottest summer nationwide, and Twin Ring Motegi was no exception. The temperature was 37 degrees, and the road surface temperature was close to 60 degrees, making it a challenging 5-hour endurance race in hot and harsh conditions. Not only the machines, but also the athletes were mercilessly exposed to the heat.
33 cars participated in the Challenge 5-Hour Endurance Race. As scheduled, the Rising Sun flag was waved at 10:30 for the final event to start! Leading the pack was the pole position holder, [#30 ReonSuperKids-3], followed by [#34 AWA by Sugimura Juku], [#33 Gulf Kid's IKB], [#2 ReonSuperKids-2], [#11 Race Live with EIKO], and [#31 Shin-Shonan Shinjuku feat. fuu?]. However, the car that returned to the top after the opening lap was [#510 ReonSuperKids-1], which started from the 28th grid. As the second lap began, [#77 Endo AS Z-SPEED No. 1], [#20 SuperChipsDream], [#11 Race Live with EIKO], and [#1 Team SYOTA] followed, but from here, three cars broke away and in the early stages of the race, [#510 ReonSuperKids-1], [#77 Endo AS Z-SPEED No. 1], and [#20 SuperChipsDream] battled for the lead.
In the early stages of the race, there were several teams that had to stop their cars due to troubles, possibly because of the intense heat. Among them was #4 ddd, which won the award for most laps completed last year. Despite making a comeback and setting a new record of 2'33.436 in the 9th lap after the restart, their dream of a consecutive victory was shattered.
At the 2-hour mark, [#20 SuperChipsDream] completed 42 laps and was in first place, followed by [#39 Espresso] in second place on the same lap. [#510 ReonSuperKids-1], [#1 Team SYOTA], [#46 SRKT Challenge ADVAN], [#21 Ore-ra Racing], and [#27 Team CooL GReeN] were all on their 41st lap.
When it comes to the remaining one hour, the timing of pit-in and the number of pit-ins affect the ranking. Once again, [#510 ReonSuperKids-1] took the lead, followed by [#77 Endo AS・Z-SPEED1] and [#20 SuperChipsDream] on the same lap, but both also pit-in. [#510 ReonSuperKids-1] also seemed to pit in again, but instead ran for 5 hours and took the checkered flag in first place. In the end, they completed 105 laps, with a comfortable lead of 2 laps over second place. The number of pit stops was only 4. "We were able to calculate our fuel consumption well during the public practice, so we were able to stick to our planned number of pit stops. It was a close call at the end, but we didn't experience any fuel shortage and were able to enjoy the race," said player Kotonatsu Ushibuchi. "Both of us had a good pace and thanks to the cooperation of our team until the end, we were able to have a fun race," added player Kotoha Suzuki.
On the other hand, the battle for second place was intense until the end. With 13 minutes remaining, #2 ReonSuperKids-2 overtook #20 SuperChipsDream to take second place. However, #77 Endo AS Z-SPEED1号, who was catching up at a high pace, overtook #20 SuperChipsDream, who was experiencing trouble, to take third place. In the end, #77 Endo AS Z-SPEED1号 also overtook #2 ReonSuperKids-2 and crossed the finish line first. #77 Endo AS Z-SPEED1号 finished in second place, followed by #2 ReonSuperKids-2 and #20 SuperChipsDream. These three teams completed 103 laps and received the award for the most laps completed.
The MVP was awarded to the #33 Gulf Kid's IKB team, who despite having a large team of up to 10 members, successfully completed their entry and inspection without any issues and finished the race without any trouble. Their excellent teamwork and enjoyment of "K-TAI" were highly praised.
