The 11th Endurance Carnival 2011 Moteigi KART Endurance Festival "K-TAI". On July 23rd (Sat), the "Challenge Class" which allows for a relatively wide range of modifications and the enjoyment of building up vehicles, held a 5-hour endurance challenge. On this day, after Typhoon No. 6 passed over the Pacific Ocean, a pressure trough with cold air approached Honshu, making for surprisingly comfortable conditions for a summer endurance race.
The opening ceremony began with the declaration of the women's kart team. Participants applaud as the course officials head towards their respective posts, led by
PIPIRA. The course officials work behind the scenes as support for the "K-TAI".
And during the briefing, flags and other items are double-checked. Finally, the final event has begun.
The Challenge 5-hour endurance race started as scheduled at 10:30 with a rolling start. The pole position holder, [#63 Robot Racing Rocket-dan], was the first to enter the first corner, followed by [#20 SuperChipsDream], [#27 NOCM&SRS-K], [#84 Team HKR], [#28 TEAMG・J・C@RoofR], [#100 SixStars RT], and [#34 AWA by Sugimura Juku]. From behind, [#779 ReonSuperKids-2] and [#5 ReonSuperKids-3] caught up, forming a top group of 9 cars in the early stages. Among them, [#779 ReonSuperKids-2], [#5 ReonSuperKids-3], and [#20 SuperChipsDream] were leading the pack.
After that, it drizzled, but not enough to wet the road, and the final event continued as it was. At the timing of the pit-in, the top group gradually scattered.
At the 2-hour mark, the leader of the race was #779 ReonSuperKids-2. Following closely behind on the same lap were #88 Hiraidental@Silk&ddd in second place, and one lap behind were #50 Parts1@F・RACING, #20 SuperChipsDream, #5 ReonSuperKids-3, and #3 K.R.R. However, by the 3-hour mark, #779 ReonSuperKids-2 had pulled ahead with a one lap lead, followed by #20 SuperChipsDream one lap behind, and #50 Parts1@F・RACING another lap behind.
However, when [#779 ReonSuperKids-2] entered the pit, [#20 SuperChipsDream] rose to the top. From 5th place to the top, [#50 Parts1@F・RACING], [#3 K.R.R], [#779 ReonSuperKids-2], and [#4 ddd] were all on the same lap, and at this point, it was still unclear which team would be the first to receive the checkered flag.
After that, the race reached its climax and [#779 ReonSuperKids-2] once again took the lead, seemingly solidifying their position. However, from behind, [#5 ReonSuperKids-3] who had passed [#50 Parts1@F・RACING], was closing in. Showing no mercy even to their own team, they made a relentless pursuit and with 10 minutes remaining, the gap had narrowed to 7 seconds. Seeing this, [#779 ReonSuperKids-2] picked up the pace once again. They were the first to complete 101 laps and crossed the finish line in first place, with a gap of 9.566 seconds to [#5 ReonSuperKids-3] and 2 minutes and 10.828 seconds to [#50 Parts1@F・RACING]. In the 2011 K-TAI Challenge 5-hour Endurance Race, 3 teams were awarded the most laps completed.
"In the end, the fuel consumption was tough so I slowed down, but Noda-san caught up from behind, so I had no choice but to pick up the pace. The gas tank was completely empty after the finish line (laughs)," said Omiya representative of #779 ReonSuperKids-2.
【#4 ddd】and【#20 SuperChipsDream】won the Excellent Lap Award with 100 laps. The MVP was awarded to 【#6 Teacher & Salaryman】, who has participated continuously since the first event, never missed a public practice, and was also praised for coordinating the team's attire.
