Endurance Carnival 2008 Motegi KART Endurance Festival "K-TAI" 4-stroke sports kart class held on August 3rd (Sun). Compared to the mission class, the 4-stroke sports kart class, which has no power and no gear changes, is easier to enter, and many female drivers participated, with a total of 97 teams lining up their machines on the grid.
[#11 Robot Racing Shaimi] includes famous voice actress Nana Mizuki as well as an all-female driver team, [#23 Miyagawa Racing] is a team made up of staff from the Tochigi factory that developed the Nissan GT-R, [#31 Birel Subaru] has All Japan Rally Champion Norihiko Katsuta as a participant, as well as SUPER GT drivers Koji Yamanishi, Tetsuya Yamano, Taiji Yamamoto, Masamasa Kato, Yudai Igarashi, and Hikaru Miyagi also listed on the entry list.

Starting from pole position, [#121 Okiyama Group with Hidechan RC] showed a good start and entered the first corner in the lead, but [#8 Robot Racing Giratina] came out from the inside and cleared the second corner. Starting from 8th on the third row, [#25 Robot Racing Pikachu] quickly moved up to 3rd place and chased the top two. The car that returned to the top on the opening lap was [#8 Robot Racing Giratina], but [#88 Opera Super Performance] and [#25 Robot Racing Pikachu] lined up side by side on the home straight and went ahead in the first corner. Following this were [#21 Ore-ra Racing + TRM KL] and [#2 Hayakoba Ranger ♪ IMP].
In the early stages of the race, the top group was formed by four cars, [#21 Ore Racing + TRM KL], [#25 Robot Racing Pikachu], [#88 Opera Super Performance], and [#2 Hayakoba Ranger ♪ IMP], exchanging positions. However, within 30 minutes of the start, the safety car was deployed, resulting in a full course caution. Some teams took this opportunity to pit, causing a rapid change in positions.
At the one hour mark from the start, there were times when the full course caution was lifted shortly after, and [#28 team regalo] was in the lead, with a close battle for 36th place on the same lap. However, at the two hour mark, [#104 Team Dove] took the lead, with only four teams remaining on the same lap. By the three hour mark, [#100 SixStars RT] was in the lead with three teams on the same lap, gradually narrowing down the competition.
And as the final event approached, 【#88 Opera Super Performance】 consistently increased their pace and pulled away from the rest of the pack, solidifying their lead. With one hour remaining, only 【#101 Tohdo IWD】 remained on the same lap as 【#88 Opera Super Performance】 after completing their sixth pit stop. However, with only five pit stops, it was expected that 【#101 Tohdo IWD】 would soon make their sixth stop. But they continued to lap at the same pace as the leader, trailing by about 1 minute and 30 seconds. However, with fuel running low, they finally made their sixth pit stop with less than 20 minutes remaining until the finish.
[#88 Opera Super Performance] showed aggressive driving by driver A Yamamoto, but also had to pit due to strict fuel consumption with 15 minutes remaining. In the meantime, [#100 SixStars RT] was steadily catching up and caught up to [#88 Opera Super Performance] on the same lap with 13 minutes remaining. [#88 Opera Super Performance] pitted out with 10 minutes remaining and managed to enter the 130th lap still in the lead.
At this point, the gap between #100 SixStars RT and #100 SixStars RT was only 19.151 seconds, but #100 SixStars RT was also entering a fuel-saving run to receive the checker, and on the contrary, the gap was only widening. At this moment, everyone thought that #88 Opera Super Performance would be the first to receive the checker flag. As the countdown to 7 hours passed, all that was left was for the #88 Opera Super Performance machine to receive the checker flag, but as it approached the S-curve, a backmarker spun right in front of it. #88 Opera Super Performance was also caught up in this accident and came to a stop. In the meantime, #101 Tohoku IWD, who had passed #100 SixStars RT, slipped by and crossed the finish line first in a dramatic turn of events.
【#100 SixStars RT】continued and received the checkered flag, and 【#88 Opera Super Performance】managed to restart and stop the car just after crossing the finish line. As a result, the top three teams, 【#101 Tohto IWD】, 【#100 SixStars RT】, and 【#88 Opera Super Performance】, all completed 133 laps and won the award for most laps completed.
[#101 East Capital IWD] achieved an incredible 4 consecutive victories. "Thanks to the strict fuel consumption and some luck, we were able to achieve 4 consecutive victories. We had some carburetor trouble along the way, but we used the slipstream and maintained our pace to achieve this result," said the driver, bursting with joy. On the other hand, "[#88 Opera Super Performance] was unable to avoid a spin in front of me. Thanks to the speed of A driver Yamamoto, we were able to achieve this result, but it's still disappointing," said the driver.
The 8th "K-TAI" where 95 out of 97 teams received the checkered flag, including the team that ran for 7 hours and set the record for the most laps, and enjoyed a full day of karting. It should have been a great memory of the summer of 2008. Let's meet again at Twin Ring Motegi next year!
